I know it’s been a bit but had a wonderful vacation and had to get back to getting stuff done so haven’t had much time to post. I have a bunch of new photos coming. …..
Finally gonna take a much needed vacation. Not sure where we are going but wherever it is it will be NOT HERE… LOL. Hopefully some nice pictures to follow.
Went Sailing with Capt. Lou on “Muirgen” today. What a beautiful boat! Had a great time, if you have never been sailing I highly recommend. It is both hard work and extreme fun. Cheers to Capt Lou and the Crew of “Muirgen” for the good times and fun in the sun!
Went to a boat Christening and renaming ceremony today, I have never actually been to one before. Twelve men over the last 7 years have volunteered their time and energy to re-build this wooden sailboat. Every ounce of the boat has been rebuilt by hand, it is quite impressive. The boat has been named Muirgen which means “from the sea”. Cheers to Capt. Lou and his crew for all their hard work …she is a beautiful site.
Gonna try and start that computer desk project this week…. blood, sweat, tears, and pics to come.
Went and helped a friend yesterday and today and really got my butt kicked. Not only am I completely out of shape but I never go out in the sun, at least not enough to say that I go out in the sun. So I got very burnt, sun-poisoned actually. Very light headed sick to my stomach and dehydrated to the max. So lots of rest tonight and tomorrow, and lots of water.
Had an Idea for a new desk for all of my computers. Remember those old stereo cabinets that had your radio and turn table in it, and when you lifted the lid on them the whole thing came up to the top so you could use it. Well I have one of those and nothing works in it anymore. (guess it was moved one too many times) Well I was thinking about taking the insides out and putting a Nice flat shelf in the place of the radio and turn table to put my wireless mouse and keyboard on, so when I lift the lid my mouse and keyboard rise up out of it to use. On the back side of the lid I would put my 24″ monitor. Then I would build in the computer to the cabinet, speakers and all. Maybe even retro fit some of the old knobs from the radio to be the buttons for the computer….Let me know what you think.
Woohoo Cinco de Mayo! Gonna be at the secret hideout today for a little celebration. Also Happy Birthday Jesus!
Well let me rephrase that by saying I have always hated the mechanics of cars. It always seems like for no real reason at all that something on the car goes to crap … right when you can’t possibly do anything about it.
I have been playing with freenas for years. I finally upgraded to the latest version, 0.7.1, and I am really liking it. I was able to get just about everything I wanted working with very little effort. The itunes share as well as web access to my stuff, all working fairly simply. Anyone looking for some home storage or just backing up all your data, I would highly recommend this … and of course its FREE…. that’s right as long as you have an old computer you are not using, plus the hard drives. One thing to consider if you want to make it really nice is getting new hard drives for it, maybe something in the Terabyte range. Getting new drive and multiple drives for it should make it last longer and give redundancy. One more nice addition would be a UPS (Uninterpretable Power Supply), to ensure your hardware and data keeps from getting damaged by power problems. All in all even if you spend some money on it it should cost you less than $200 to keep your data safe and secure.
